Food, China, and Fun...Sort of...

Today was a slow moving day for my household. It rained from 11:30 am on and so my younger brothers were unable to get out of the house and release some much needed pent up energy. In the end though there was a bright spot to the day when I decided to make stir-fry this evening. I just got a new food processor in the last week and haven't had a use for it before so here was a great chance. After some effort to install (the wording was reminiscent of stereo instructions) I got it working only to realize I'd put the wrong slicing plate in and had quite literally pureed the pepper I wanted to use. Suffice it to say that attempt went down the disposal.

I finally did get the write plate in and made a very nice stir-fry. I am fascinated by Japanese meals and what not so I've been attempting to get my extremely mid-western U.S. family to learn to use chop sticks. It's rather entertaining to see but also may be a futile attempt on my part. To make matters worse I bought a set of Japanese soup spoons at an antique store earlier this week and decided to use them as they can be used for rice as well...did not go well. When chop sticks failed my ever resourceful brothers used the spoons to take gigantic helpings of rice from the bowls to their mouths. In the end I think I've learned that adding the option of forks to the table might be a reasonable option for the hand eye challenged members of my family.
